Discover some unique ideas to raise money for charities, non-profits, and schools.

In the current economy, raising money is becoming more and more difficult. Aside from not having the funds to start a fundraiser or to hold a fundraising event, it is more difficult than ever to convince people to donate money—after all, people need to watch their finances more now than ever before.

However, if you’re looking to generate ideas to raise money, there are plenty of ways for you to come up with ideas and start using services that are free and that don’t ask anyone to buy anything different or do anything different than they normally would.

And they’re all right at your fingertips—through the internet. And there are plenty of advantages to using online ideas to raise money, including:

Online fundraising programs are usually free to sign up. Online fundraising programs are different than standard fundraising programs because you don’t have to give anything back, pay based on what you sell or purchase inventory to sell. You sign up, tell your friends about it and watch the money roll in.

Online fundraising programs have a wide reach. Whenever you do something on the internet, you can expect to reach thousands or hundreds of thousands more people than you would with a traditional fundraiser because the web is open to the entire world.

Online fundraising programs don’t require you to hit the streets. You don’t have to feel like a used car salesman knocking on people’s doors with online fundraising. Simply send a mailer or place door hangers to get the word out. Better yet, follow the trend and send email invitations.

Remember, the web can be an extremely useful tool when you’re coming up with ideas to raise money for your charity.

Sick of picking stocks? Here’s a way that’s gaining in popularity.

It’s a difficult time to be stock picking at the moment so many retail and professional investors are turning to buying into exchange traded funds, or ETFs.

I have family and friends who want to invest in the sharemarket but don’t have the expertise to stock pick or don’t have the time or inclination. So if you want exposure to the Australian sharemarket or even the US market without spending the time to pick individual companies, there is a way to do it and that’s through ETFs.

Low fees

ETFs first caught my eye years ago due to the low fee structure compared to an actively managed fund. This is because most ETFs involve simply replicating an index. Since you don’t need many money managers to follow an index, fees are cheap. Recently, I’ve noticed that part of gold prices rising has been the record holdings in physical gold due to ETFs buying. ETFs actually hold the underlying asset.

International exposure

I suppose what really sparked my interest was the ease in which I could get exposure to different markets. I’m still kicking myself for not investing in China years ago. To give you an example of the range of assets, you can invest in China, Switzerland, Germany or even specific sectors such as energy or healthcare. It’s an easy way to gain access to a range of markets from a relatively small outlay.

I don’t seem to be the only one with the idea of trading ETFs. In the last 12 months trading in ETFs has increased by 174%. It is an idea that is gaining in popularity.

Currency

If you are looking at investing overseas markets through ETFs just be careful of currency fluctuations. Generally, you want the Aussie dollar to fall while you are invested overseas so that currency movements work in your favour. Also like any investment, looking at the growth prospects and timing of your investment can be crucial.

iShares

There are many ETF providers in Australia, one of them being iShares. ETFs are traded on the ASX just like shares so you can trade them through your broker, like Bell Direct. To help you on your way, here’s a list of iShare’s more popular options:

Exposure – Global

Fund Name – iShares S& P Global 100

Underlying Strategy – 100 large transnational companies with minimum capitalisation of US$5bn

ASX Code – I00

MEF*(%) – 0.40

Exposure – Australasia, Europe, Far East

Fund Name – iShares MSCI EAFE

Underlying Strategy – Reflects the performance of European, Australasian and Far Eastern markets

ASX Code – IVE

MEF*(%) – 0.34

Exposure – US

Fund Name – iShares S&P 500

Underlying Strategy – US large-cap stocks across a range of industries

ASX Code – IW

MEF*(%) – 0.09

Exposure – Emerging Markets

Fund Name – iShares MSCI Emerging Markets

Underlying Strategy – Leading companies in over 20 emerging countries and 10 industry sectors.

ASX Code – IEM

MEF*(%) – 0.72

Exposure – China

Fund Name – Shares FTSE/Xinhua China 25

Underlying Strategy – Leading The Index consists of 25 of the largest and most liquid Chinese companies. All of the securities in the Index trade on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

ASX Code – IZZ

MEF*(%) – 0.74

* Management Expense Fees are expressed as an annual percentage calculated on the average net assets of the fund.

Happy trading!

What is Trifunds?

Trifunds is the new generation of fundraising, most sell cookies, popcorn, or other things that are totally overpriced and normally worthless. Now there is an easier way to make money, shop online for cheaper things you can actually use! You can also complete free offers, both raise money for your organization.

What is revolutionary?

They have discovered people are more willing to donate if they receive something in return. Like when you buy popcorn or Girl Scout cookies, you’re getting something for your donation. The company’s purpose is to raise organizations money, I believe their “Trifunds sites” will help organizations all over the world get the money they need to operate and achieve their goals, even if you have another fundraiser, a Trifunds site will increase your donations.

How much does this cost?

The best thing about it is that your “Trifunds site” is absolutely free, no costs at all. That means if you try it and your site makes absolutely no money then you’re in the green, you haven’t lost anything. Speaking of green Trifunds, as an online business, saves the planet a little bit more. All that paperwork and trash built up by other fundraisers hurts our environment and adds to our already full landfills. Sense they are internet based they don’t create any waste! Talk about another way to support sustainability.

How do I get one of these?

If you’re interested in getting a Trifunds site, just tell them and they will have one up for you in as little as 24 hours. We have tested their claim and its true, talk about customer service. They know you need them to be speedy so they can help you raise your money before your deadline. If you don’t have a deadline it is still nice to get that money in your pocket as soon as possible so your organization can thrive.

In a nutshell

They build you a free site where you can sell goods online to raise money for your organization. Its absolutely free with no risk to you and you can raise unlimited amounts of money. Why would an organization pass up something like this? This may just be the new way to donate to organizations.

Trading penny stocks is you can work from home or from anywhere that has a internet connection. All you need is a computer( i use a laptop), a internet connection, a on-line broker and some money to start. The people that i see that make the really big money in penny stocks have a considerable amount of money that they are trading with. These stocks are so volatile the only way to play them is trade them. When you start with a small amount of money in your trading account, it is very easy to get wiped out to nothing. After getting wiped out but seeing that penny stocks have the very real potential of making millions i started looking for a way to generate a large amount of money to trade with. I found an online marketing business that i am using to create the trading capital i need. It is a perfect complement to trading penny stocks as it gives me the liquidity i need to trade penny stocks.
The whole point is to be able to buy quickly if you think that a stock is about to rise. T sell quickly, as well, when the market seems to have to have peaked for your penny stocks, so that you can maximize your profit and sell before the market starts to fall. If you keep a portion of your assets as liquid in your stock broking account, then you have the flexibility to move quickly as the market conditions dictate.

A penny stocks trader without the ability to move quickly is likely to be missing out on many lucrative trades. By keeping around a third of your investment fund as cash allows you to buy into a rising market without having to rush into selling any penny stocks that may be under performing at that time. That way you get to benefit from the rising penny stocks but can also hold onto the non performing or flat ones until they start to rise or you have decided that you need to cut your loses and get rid of them. Either way the point is that you are not rushed into a decision and can decide based on research and rationality, rather than a need for quick cash to fund your next investment. The ability to move quickly in response to rapidly rising penny stocks can greatly affect your potential for profits in this most volatile of the financial markets. Keeping a portion of your penny stocks fund liquid will help you to achieve profitability and make the success of your investing venture into the world of penny stocks trading more likely to be a profitable one.
00, and ideally, stick to the $4 to $7 range for optimum results.
Trading penny stocks is usually more risky than trading shares listed with major markets. The attractive thing about speculative securities is that it is possible to purchase small and trade for a little bit more to realize a profit. The main thing for a person to remember is that he or she should not purchase more shares than can be reasonably afforded. Money for necessities to live should not be used to gamble with. An individual who gambles with money for necessities will suffer much more when losses occur than someone who is using extra money that will not be needed for current or future necessities. For more secure investments a person may want to consider purchasing bonds or certificates of deposit. There are many who claim that penny stock investing can be a sure deal; but there is no guarantee of a profit and there is always the possibility of a loss. In addition, if the situation is really bad a person might not be able to sell his or her shares at all. A person should use some wisdom when turning to the stock market and should not sink everything into one thing but instead should participate in different types of investments to minimize losses and increase gains.
Trading penny stocks is best done through a brokerage firm because brokers often have the right contacts and the knowledge to make wise choices. The changes in supply and demand can affect shares rapidly especially when. Shares listed on pink sheets can decrease and increase very quickly. Speculative securities usually sell for less than five dollars per share. An investor who likes the excitement of trading may want to start with speculative securities or penny stocks especially when funds are low. An investor should never bet everything on one company even if he or she feels that doing so is a sure deal. When it comes to the stock market nothing is ever completely secure. Many investors have learned this nugget of truth the hard way. God expects christians to be responsible with finances and not take unnecessary risks with money that is needed for necessities.
Trading penny stocks is to look at the so-called pink sheet website. Know the penny stock’s ticker symbol as well as which market the stock is located in. When dealing with penny stocks, you should usually buy or sell shares in large amounts, multiples of one thousand, for instance, or you may end up having to pay extra money to your broker in commission.

Working as a consultant for new and upcoming businesses, I often hear, almost every day, really, just how annoying it is to deal with commercial banks nowadays. Just the other week I had a meeting with a business owner whose business is commercial lighting, and they’ve been building their business and increasing their companies sales for more than twelve years. His company has experienced excellent growth, has fantastic profit trends, an awesome marketing plan for this year, and has a positive cash flow.

In addition to his financials being in such a good place, his marketing and business plan are very well written and quite polished. Sadly, the most annoying thing for him (and a million other business owners), is that he can’t get his banker to call him back. He chose a banker and turned in a loan package to him, and this banker won’t even give him a simple phone call back. Ever. He is stringing this entrepreneur out and making him ponder whether or not they’ll actually come through for him by giving him the line of credit he’ll need to execute his marketing plan.

If any part of this sounds even remotely familiar to you you should start thinking about private money. Based on your growth strategy and financial situation, it might just be easier to raise the funds you need from private investors than to wait for some annoying banker to finally get through your loan package and give you a phone call. The current banking system is a broken one. The majority of bankers seem incapable of making any decision at all, no matter how strong your plan and numbers might be. While it may be true that many a private investor is still licking his wounds and recovering from the stock, commodity, and bond collapse, there’s still quite a bit of liquidity out there for the taking. All you need to do is to create your story and plan and meet with investors who are going to be open to investing in your vision, and in you.

Financing Strategies

There are several alternative strategies used by business owners (often more than one is used). The attraction and viability of different methods will depend on the individual circumstances, such as the type of business, the owner’s history and financial standing, the business vision and expectations among them.

Bootstrapping & Personal finance or lower level debt

Operational funding and debt (usually shorter term in nature)

Longer term debt (usually used for acquisition of larger assets)

External equity

Bootstrapping & Personal Finance

This is a way to finance the business without substantial borrowings or external equity. As such it also incorporates a substantial proportion of personal finance and lower level debt. Many successful companies including Dell Computers were started this way.

The most common form of bootstrapping is owner financing – the use of personal savings and credit <a href="http://preciousfunding.com/category/credit-card/"target="_self"title="card" >cards as well as re-investing any profits back into the company. Family loans are also common to help get the business started.

Cash flow management by delayed payments of accounts payable while collecting from customers as quickly as possible is also a commonly used strategy. Some tactics include discounts for cash payments and use of debt collection agencies.

Overhead and expense minimization is also important. The first part of this is having a miserly approach to expenses. Sharing office production or storage space, supplies and equipment with others is a common start-up method of keeping overheads down. The same principle applies to using part-time employees and commission sales people, keeping inventory levels to a minimum.

Accessing government grants and subsidies can also be useful.

Operational Funding & Debt

Shorter term funding is commonly called working capital. The distinction I make here is that these strategies involve formally negotiated contracts rather than the looser, more ad hoc arrangements typical in bootstrapping or personal finance arrangements.

These include:

Bank overdraft as a floating safety net. Whilst this is flexible and convenient, you should not use this for longer term financing as the interest rates will typically be a bit higher, and it is generally repayable on demand;

Commercial bill – to cover seasonal fluctuations or for specific one-off needs, usually for a term of between 30 to 180 days. Interest is often payable in advance;

Debtor finance such as factoring. Availability may be an issue as usually only offered to businesses with proven sales history over a certain limit; and

Trade credit – either standard terms such as 30 days or individually negotiated terms.

Sources of such funding includes banks, building societies or credit unions, finance companies and brokers. The same sources apply to longer term debt instruments. It always pays to shop around as the competitiveness of varying instruments and credit providers can change daily.

Longer Term Debt

These forms of borrowing arrangements are usually put in place for financing the purchase of equipmet or other assets, business expansion or the development of new products. It includes:

Term loans – usually used for acquisition of productive assets such as land & buildings, plant & equipment or business acquisition. Many business owners will extend their home mortgage as a funding strategy as this usually carries lower interest and bank fees than commercial loans (between 1% and 2% interest differential is common). The funds are then “lent” by the owner to the business;

Personal loans or hire purchase – generally used for purchase of motor vehicles and other equipment;

Leasing finance – also used for plant, equipment and motor vehicles, with the advantage that no deposit is required as the equipment being financed becomes the security in most cases. Leasing is generally more expensive than term loans, but is the most readily available form of small business finance.

External Equity

In the same way that a publicly listed company can raise additional capital by issuing shares, so can a small enterprise. The Corporations Act places many restrictions as to how the business can go about this, and this is beyond the scope of this article.

Many business owners are protective of their ownership, thinking that they somehow lose if they include others in the business. This is a limiting mind-set, as it is better to have share of something larger than 100% of soemthing small. Bill gates owns less than 8% of Microsoft, yet is one of the richest men in the world!

There are three types of investors who might contribute capital to a growing enterprise:

Venture capital and/or private equity funds – these generally invest later in the business development stage as they look for returns from commercialisation of the business;

Angel investors – so called because they nurture their investment and the company by an active participation (typically through management guidance and assistance); and

Individual investors – the Corporations Act imposes several restrictions on how these investors can be found and how they may invest in a business. It is advisable to use the services of a professional investment matching service such as Transition Capital – www.trtansitioncapital.com.au or the Australian Small Scale Offerings Board (ASSOB)  – www.assob.com.au in pursuiing this strategy.

In tough economic times like these, everyone is looking to save money, never mind the fact that non-profit organizations are finding the same issues trying to save money, never mind raise money for their cause.

Whenever times get tough, what do most people look to do, save money, and in most cases, earn more money for their families. In times where millions are losing their jobs and millions more fearing they will also lose their jobs, more and more families are forced to become dual income households.

With free time a luxury in hard times, less people have time to volunteer for their favorite non-profit organization, school or church charity. With this a universal problem nationwide, there are few options available as even donors pull back on their donations and purchases promoted as fundraisers.

Since everyone is looking to save money, as well as earn an extra income, TamPogo has the right solution at the right time. Not only will donors be able to save money on what they are already purchasing elsewhere, but in doing so, they will naturally want to share their savings with others, so your next fundraiser will be viral, growing based on savings, not having to purchase overpriced cookie dough, candy or wrapping paper.

If your donors are saving money using the TamPogo wholesale direct from manufacturing prices, similar to an Amazon and Walmart combined, everyone else can save money too, including your volunteers. Here is the first time everyone gains, and no one loses. Donors, the lifeblood of all non-profit organizations are saving money on name brand merchandise conveniently delivered to their home or office, and volunteers are being rewarded with the same savings, wouldn’t that make for a great fundraiser in these tough economic times.

It gets better, now imagine if both your donors and volunteers were not only saving money, but making an extra income by simply sharing TamPogo with others they know. If this were not enough given volunteers are never rewarded for their fundraising efforts, here is what happens. As both donors and volunteers can become affiliates at no cost to earn residual commissions, this can encourage even greater growth of members of TamPogo which will increase the funding provided from efforts for fundraiser. Each year this funding will grow virally as more and more people share the saving benefits with others by referral, not selling.Â

We all know most do not like to sell, and often times volunteers do not donate their time for this very reason, no one likes to sell overpriced products most fundraisers choose to sell to raise funds. I think of the expensive Girl Scout cookies as an example, they cost twice what they are worth, and most people buy more than they eat all year. At least that is how it is in our home having a daughter who is a girl scout and many neighborhood children are also. With TamPogo concept, everyone saves money and can earn extra money, all at no cost or obligation.

As one who has helped raise funds for many non-profit organizations and charities over the years, this is the perfect solution for all concerned. Visit TamPogo and you will find it to be a fundraiser as well as a fundraiser for your organizations. They donate a weeks worth of food for starving children around the world for every purchase made through TamPogo, so now you have two reasons to shop at TamPogo, help your organization while TamPogo helps feed starving children. This it the first win, win situation for all involved, so watch our video presentation today

This usually, but not exclusively, relates to shops, public houses, restaurants, take-aways and similar, mainly retail type businesses. The underlying leases are short term and generally operate from just a year to 25 or perhaps 30 years with five to ten years being the most common.

The purchase of a leasehold business has always posed a problem for banks as there is no inherent value in the lease itself. If the lessee fails to pay the rent then title will revert back to the freeholder and thus in the event of default there is no value for the bank. Despite this, there is of course ‘value’ for the purchaser but in effect it is within the ‘goodwill’ of the business being acquired. Goodwill is an intangible asset of a trading business. The buyer of a business is often willing to pay for the “good name” of the business in addition to the value of its assets. Clearly, if the lessee has not paid the rent, then being in default at the bank is also likely. The good name of the business will also have been lost and thus of no real value. It is for this reason thank banks are reluctant to lend against a ‘goodwill’ value.

ORGANIZATION INFORMATION

Background

BECAME is a voluntary CHURCH/Community Based program initiated by the church (Beroya Gospel Fellowship) which is a registered church as NGO under a registration number S.5914/1085.

The program is focusing its major activities on caring for children who are vulnerable to HIV/AIDS (infected and affected) in the local communities. BECAME was initiated in 2007 after a long analysis of our country’s ever increasing rate of infection particularly of children with HIV/AIDS. The organization started its operations in the district of Jinja but has now extended its services to KAMULI and NAMUTUMBA districts with its Head office located in Jinja town.

In 2001 after realizing the effect of the economic status of families on the lives of affected children, the organization introduced a programme of supporting Grandmothers, widows and single mothers before, who are nurturing the orphans of their late off springs, husbands and relatives. The organization is so far operating under a family fostering net work of 750 families.

TARGET GROUP:

Beroya children and mother empowerment has centered its concern on the children who are 2 to 18 years of age that are living with HIV/AIDS and the mothers, widows and single mothers who are taking care of the target group children.

The organization is currently reaching out to 15 children living with HIV/AIDS and 30 Grandmothers, 13 widows and 21 single mothers as for the start.

VISION:

Beroya children and mother empowerment’s vision is to create an environment where vulnerable children and those living with HIV/AIDS realize their full potential in communities that respect children’s rights, acknowledge their contributions and ensure a secure and enjoyable childhood that supports their development.

MISSION:

Beroya children and mother empowerment strives to fight for the realization that HIV/AIDS affected children have the rights to survival, protection and education in order to create a sustainable change in their lives and status by enabling the families where these children stay to spiritually and socially function.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

Since 1980s HIV/AIDS has been a deadly epidemic in Africa and Uganda in particular, many energetic people have lost their lives leaving very many orphans – in numerous cases – under the care of their Grandmothers, widows and single mothers. The rate of infection had become increasingly high by the 1990s, but no means had been derived to control the transmission of the virus. This phenomenon caused many children to get infected through mother to child transmission.

The Uganda Population and Housing census of 2002 revealed a population of 11 million children; 35% are vulnerable children that are 3.8 million vulnerable children due to various factors like poverty, broken homes, single mothers, unplanned births, insurgency, natural calamities and diseases most commonly, HIV/AIDS, malaria (upper respiratory infection ) URI.

The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Community development in the same year revealed a total of 1.7 million orphans, 75% are under the care of their Grandparents and yet these Grandparents are no longer functional in that, they do not have all that energy to do heavy work that can enable them generate income.

There are a number of Non-Government Organizations taking care of Orphaned children in Uganda but without particular concern for the Grandmothers, widows and single mothers who are taking care of these orphaned children.

In our simple survey carried out by the church leaders/staff early in 2006 in the target area, it was discovered that of the 263 households, 109 house holds are headed by Grandmothers. These Grandmothers are all peasants growing food using traditional methods for home consumption, which therefore earns them little surplus to take to markets. The average daily income of these families is less than 1 dollar. The existence of these Grandmothers and Orphans living with HIV/AIDS in rural settings is not known by the stake holders.

Very little attention is given to these families, they face stigma and segregation, and their rights are completely denied. The challenges these families face are; lack of sufficient medical care, poor nutrition and lack of education for the children though the U.P.E program which still inefficient in terms of poor quality of education, scholastic materials, Uniform and no good meals at school as in addition the social stigma of having been infected with HIVAIDS.

The Government has put same parameters in place to care for vulnerable people but the aid in most cases is misappropriated by unconcerned Government officials – take for example the Global Fund. As a result, the affected orphans in local communities are not accessing services such as medical care, antiretroviral treatment, testing and counseling. This crisis calls for good Samaritans who can take the trouble to identify such families and enable them to access required services.

It is therefore BE-CAME’s concern by the founders of Beroya gospel fellowship

to set up a program this particular program geared specifically at supporting Grandmothers, widows single mothers and their orphans in our local communities. Beroya children and mother empowerment is pleased to report that there have been some successful cases of Grandmothers who are now functional as a result of our effort.

GOAL

To acquire funding from foundation, sponsors, well wishers and friends to address the following activities;

v Supply of food stuffs to improve the nutrition of families

v Provide bedding facilities for the children and Grandmothers as to promote health .

v Enable Grandmothers, widows and single mothers to set up income generating activities particularly diary cattle rearing to improve both nutrition and house hold income.

v Meet the costs of medical services rendered to the children and grandmothers.

v Provide scholastic materials and fees for the orphans and having means of transport and communication..

Specific Objectives

To improve on the living standards.

To make a model program easily adoptable with other local churches.

To remove stigmatization and segregation from the society we are serving.

To alleviate poverty by making them productive.

Management and budget

The program is managed by 5 volunteer members under the supervision of the organization body which comprises of the following:

1. Executive Director  holding Diploma in theology and certificate in community development.

2. Secretary /Administrator holding degree in social work /administration.

3. Treasure holds a certificate in bible studies.

4. Accountant holds diploma in Accounting.

Then the following runs the project:

Project manager holding diploma in social work.

4 field workers holding certificate in community development studies.

As for this program to be achieved we need a total budget of $20,000 for the two years implementing plan.

Therefore, your advice and guidance will be relied upon for the success of this program.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

God bless you All.
